Along the R1 highway in Antwerp, new wooden sound barriers enhance livability. These sound barriers are a vital component of the new Ringpark West, which positively impacts neighborhood livability through the creation of green landscapes, new bike paths, and noise barriers.
A total of 11,620 square meters of wooden acoustic panels were installed. These panels are made from treated pine wood and boast an impressive height of 8.5 meters, stretching over a distance of 3 kilometers along the highway. They were delivered to THV Rive Gauche Civile – Rinkônien (Mobilis, Artes Depret, CIT Blaton & Stadsbader).
Treatment of Pine wood
In addition to supplying the fir wood, Lemahieu Group was also responsible for its preservation. With our impregnation station, the wood was brown impregnated with Wolmanit CX-10, which not only extends its lifespan but also provides preventive protection against wood-decaying fungi, soft rot, and wood-boring insects.
The complete completion of the Ringpark is scheduled for 2025. This project is a collaboration between the project owner Oosterweelbouwheer Lantis, MICE SA as the supplier of acoustic panels, Lemahieu Group as the supplier of pine wood and wood treatment. Together, we contribute to the development of a greener and more pleasant environment for the community.
