European prize for solar panel project at Rigakaai

Ghent City received the European Procura+ Award for the solar project 'Sun for Ghent' on our roof from Lemahieu Group at Rigakaai! The 15,000 solar panels together produce 7,000 megawatt-hours of green energy. The award is given for the most sustainable procurement strategies, and citizen participation in this project proved to be a significant added value.

"I am not only proud of the award, but especially of all the people of Ghent. It's fantastic to see that the capital was raised in just a day and a half. Generating energy locally, sustainably, and in our own management is an important step towards a sustainable Ghent," said Hafsa El-Bazioui, Ghent's Alderman for Facility Management.
