International recognition for pioneering project on Lemahieu's roof

The collaboration between the City of Ghent, Beauvent, and Lemahieu Group receives international recognition! In 2022, 750 engaged citizens of Ghent invested through Beauvent in renewable energy for their city! As a result, we installed 15,000 solar panels on the roof of Lemahieu Group and Lempan Gent: energy that goes directly back to the citizens.

Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) between cities and sustainable project developers are gaining ground. This power purchase agreement is therefore a pioneering project in Flanders: for the first time, a city is purchasing solar energy produced on the roof of a private owner within its own city.

Energy Cities, a European network of experts, cities, and pioneers in energy transition, recently highlighted this project as a best practice.
