Wood preservation

Ghent, 6 September - LDCwood announces an important strategic development. Daphné Decolvenaere and Mike Lemahieu have reached an agreement for Lemahieu Group to acquire all shares of LDCwood, a decision made in good faith and with mutual understanding.  This acquisition will further strengthen the market position of LDCwood.

LDCwood, the Belgian manufacturer of ThermoWood®

LDCwood has been producing ThermoWood®, thermally modified wood, since 2016. It was created by two wood importers: Lemahieu Group and Houtimport Decolvenaere.

Lemahieu Group is a global importer, processor and distributor of timber and panels. Today, Mike Lemahieu is the fourth generation at the helm. Houtimport Decolvenaere imports ayous, fraké and other sustainably harvested tropical timber from its concessions in Cameroon. As the fifth generation, Daphné Decolvenaere manages the operational and strategic business from her office in Ghent.

Entering a new phase

As a result of the transaction, Lemahieu Group will become the sole shareholder of LDCwood. Nothing will change for LDCwood's employees, customers and suppliers.

Lemahieu Group was already responsible for the day-to-day management. The production of ThermoWood® also takes place at the same Lemahieu Group production site. Lemahieu Group continues to work closely with Daphné Decolvenaere. Daphné Decolvenaere confirms “Houtimport Decolvenaere remains a strategic partner for LDCwood, ensuring the supply of ayous and fraké”. Mike Lemahieu confirms that this partnership will continue to guarantee the ThermoWood® quality label.

Mike Lemahieu is convinced that integration into Lemahieu Group will have a positive impact on customer service and operations. “We remain a company with a family culture, where our values Drive, Family, Trust guide our daily actions. Sustainability and innovation remain important pillars to which we remain committed.
